I RECEIVE a free St Helens Star every week and enjoy reading most of the contents. St Helens Star dated September 14 two items caught my attention. Row flares over council reports' and What happened to disabled access on the buses asks writer'.

The row becomes very disturbing in the Council when it becomes a personal issue on a person's disability. The chamber and most of the rooms have poor acoustics apart from room 10 if you are lucky to sit in front of a microphone. Being profoundly deaf is no laughing matter.

Cllr Rimmer to her credit has worked hard to combine her disability and her role in public life. The Town Hall is a beautiful old building but does have an acoustic problem like many old buildings.

Disabled access on buses I agree with Mr Griffith, many disabled people are concerned and do write their concerns to Merseytravel. Merseytravel have an access officer, Mr D Skelton.

I am a member of the Access Panel and do attend the meetings. I have sent a copy of the Star concerning the lack of access on buses to the Access Officer.
