Llanybydder were able to celebrate promotion with victory over Pembroke in front of the BBC Wales cameras, but the Scarlets played well, limiting them to just three tries and scoring one of their own.

Llanybydder had already won 24-7 at Crickmarren and were restricted to 16-3 up at the break in this game. They opened their account with a penalty from full back Rhys Bowen before he added a try and a second penalty.

The Scarlets had former skipper Simon Edwards out of retirement in the second row to help out because of suspension and injuries.

They reduced the deficit as Richard Morris, skipper Gareth Jones and Robin Badham formed the foundation for a period where full back Scott Bowen slotted a penalty.

Gary Pickering also looked sharp on his return from injury in the centre alongside Mark Williams but Llanybydder had the final word in the first period. No 8, captain Robert Price ploughed through for a try.

Pembroke No 8 Stuart Tyrie grabbed a good try after the interval as reward for the Scarlets genuine efforts. This brought fulsome post-match praise from coach Ossie Boswell.

They defended really well so all Llanybydder could muster were penalties from Rhys Bowen and scrum half Darrell Griffiths, who also scored a try to complete the scoring.
