Hollywood star Steven Seagal has cancelled his show in Oxford tonight (Saturday) The action hero, who appeared in hit movies Under Siege and Executive Decision, was set to play the Town Hall in St Aldate's with his band Thunderbox.

But he pulled out at the last minute, citing "extensive rehearsals" for a show in London tomorrow. Tickets for the £28.50 a head Town Hall show had been selling poorly, with just 250 of the 752 sold.

Concert organisers have attempted to contact ticket holders, and are laying on coaches to take them to tomorrow night's show at the Shepherd's Bush Empire - the last night of the 37 date UK tour.

Anyone unable, or unwilling, to travel to London is being offered a full refund from the point of purchase.

A spokesman for Mr Seagal said: "This unfortunate action is necessitated because the following night at Shepherd's Bush Empire is being filmed for DVD production and a need has arisen for far more extensive rehearsal than originally anticipated. Mr Seagal is appreciative of the fact that many fans will be extremely disappointed."

One ticket holder, who asked not to be named, said: "He clearly hasn't sold many tickets, but more people could have walked up on the night.

"I would have thought playing in front of an audience at Oxford would have been ideal practice."

Mr Seagal was unavailable for comment.
