DESCRIBED as "the coolest band around" Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's image to reflects their moody sixties style.

Formed during the mid-90s in San Francisco, the three-piece released their first album in 2001 and became known for an individual brand of psychedelic fuzz rock backed by bluesy guitar.

Their second album, released in 2003, was called Take Them On, On Your Own', and saw the band embark on a hectic touring schedule which caused internal strife.

During a festival tour of Europe in 2004, tensions and excesses tore the band apart, leaving founder members Robert Levon Been and Peter Hayes to return to America and begin work on their next album.

The band regrouped and re-recruited drummer Nick Jago for a triumphant return to the UK in 2005 at the Reading and Leeds festivals with the quieter and more soulful album Howl.

Their latest album, Baby 81, takes its name from an infant who survived the 2004 Asian tsunami and was claimed by nine different mothers.
