A HOSPITAL porter is setting off on the adventure of a lifetime to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.
Ged Brown, who works at St Luke's Hospital in Middlesbrough, will trek along the Great Wall of China in October.
He chose the charity because his mother suffers from the debilitating disease and is currently in the Victoria Care Home, Middlesbrough.
The Middlesbrough man is appealing for sponsorship to help him raise at least £1,600, to be able to take part in the trek.
He said: "Only when a family member is affected by such a disease do you actually learn to live and cope with it.
"My aim is to raise as much as possible for this very worthwhile charity."
The ten-day trip will see him flying out from London to Beijing on October 20, to join the group of walkers.
Mr Brown is no stranger to charity walks.
In the past, he has completed walks on behalf of Redcar Stroke Society, the Special Care Baby Unit and the Heart Fund at The James Cook University Hospital.
To sponsor Mr Brown, call 01642-516089, Monday to Friday, between 8am and 4pm.
