BIG striker Marc Smith is looking for a return to Guiseley's first team squad after a season beset by injury.

The player, signed from Harrogate Town for a £5,000 fee at the start of the current campaign, broke his collarbone in the third game of the season and after a couple of months out made a return only to damage his ankle.

He returned to the side once more only to re break his collar bone. He was hoping for a run out with the Reserves last Saturday but their home game with Woodley Sports was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Smith's would be a timely return as young striker James Hanson is currently on the sidelines with a virus.

Striker Scott Jackson has moved on despite being Guiseley's leading scorer of the campaign.

He has joined a number of former teammates at Bradford Park Avenue.

Midfielder Andy Shields has also now officially severed his links with the club by signing for Wakefield. Shields only played for the club a couple of times after his signing from Farsley and then disappeared from the scene.

Good news for Guiseley fans is that young midfielder Liam Green has had his loan period from Doncaster Rovers extended to a third month. Leeds United Academy player Ryan Serrant plays the last game of his two month loan on Saturday but manager Terry Dolan is hoping to also extend his loan to a third month.

Guiseley face Lincoln United at Nethermoor Park on Saturday (3pm) as they bid to get their challenge for a promotion play-off place back on track.

Their inconsistent form may well cost them dear in what is their main target with the players also sidetracked by two upcoming cup semi-finals.

On Monday they travel to the Horsfall Stadium at Bradford to play Bradford Park Avenue in the semi-final of the West Riding County Cup - a trophy Guiseley lifted a couple of seasons ago beating Halifax Town in the final.

On Saturday, March 10, Guiseley line-up in the semi-finals of the UniBond League Chairman's Cup having home advantage against Ashton United.

The other semi-final will be contested between Bridlington Town and Cammell Laird. These semi-finals will go to extra-time and penalties if necessary.

Dolan said: "We have two cup semi-finals coming up but the important game is Saturday's league clash with Lincoln as we need to get back on track after our home defeat by Witton who are a bit of a form team at the moment."
