Mersea Island turn their attentions back to Eastern Counties League business this weekend as they make the long journey to play the most eastern-based rugby team in England, Lowestoft and Yarmouth.

With only six-league games remaining, winning the title is within the hands of the Islanders but the chasing pack are keeping up the pressure and Mersea are fully aware that nothing short of six wins will do to secure the championship.

Despite being beaten by Mersea by a record 114-3 scoreline in October, the Lowestoft team have dramatically turned their performances and season around, and, with an unbeaten run this year, have managed to lift themselves out of the relegation zone.

This will be a tough test of character for the Islanders, who will be keen to quickly erase the disappointment of losing in the EDF Energy Junior Vase at Hartpury College last Saturday.
