Robbers have stolen a pensioner's purse after attacking her in Oxford's Disney Store.

The 71-year-old woman fell to the ground after she was elbowed in the ribs.

Two women then rummaged through her handbag and stole her purse which contained £50 and credit cards.

A woman who was shopping at the store, just outside the Westgate Centre, helped the victim to her feet.

The robbery happened at about 12.30pm on Friday.

The attackers were 5ft 6ins tall, of eastern European or Asian origin and in their mid 30s.

They both had dark, straight, shoulder length hair and were similarly dressed in knee-length black coats with white tops underneath.

Dc Joanne Martin from the Oxford police's robbery team said: "This was a callous attack with two people targeting a woman in her 70s.

"But to do it during a busy shopping period was particularly brazen and we hope that somebody who was also in the Disney Store last Friday lunchtime may have seen something.

"We would particularly like to speak to the member of the public who came to this lady's aid."
