FOR weeks Crystal Palace boss Peter Taylor has talked of needing a fantastic run to reach the play-offs.

But the wheels came off a five-match unbeaten streak at Plymouth two weeks ago leaving the Eagles nine points off sixth place with seven games to go.

Now they need to start all over again but the run-in to the season's end is not easy with just one opponent in the bottom half of the table (Barnsley).

Games remaining:

31.03: Sheffield Wednesday (h)

07.04: Preston NE (h)

09.04: Stoke City (a)

14.04: Wolves (h)

21.04: Barnsley (a)

28.04: Debry County (h)

06.05: Colchester City (a)

But, undeterred, Taylor said: "I think our run-in is better for us, honestly I really do.

"Teams have got to come to here and when we play away from home they are all going to be going for points, Barnsley as well.

"I prefer an open game because it helps our chances."

He added: "We could have been playing teams who are happy with a point, play a little defensive whereas even Barnsley will be looking for three points when they play us because of how tight it is down there.

"So I think it will make better matches so I am delighted Preston, Derby and Wolves have got to come to us and try and win the game, I think that is better for us."

However, Taylor is aware his team need a quick reaction after the defeat to Plymouth.

He said: "The boys had a nice long weekend and after playing 39 matches it is well deserved.

"We have been delighted with our run but of course it ended at Plymouth and I did not think it was deserved, we should have got something out of the game.

"We have got to bounce back immediately and we have seven matches to go and we want to finish the season in a positive way."
