A HOSPITAL has delivered its 3,000th baby of the last 12 months.

Increasing delivery rates at the hospital are also leading to the opening of a new matern-ity unit.

The baby was born at Darent Valley Hospital last Tuesday morning by caesarean section.

Mrs Grace Rabino, from Temple Hill, gave birth to baby Bianca Louise, who weighed 6lb 1oz.

It marked the 3,000th baby between April last year and March this year.

Dawn Johnston, head of midwifery, said: "Demand for our services has increased so much that we will shortly be opening a dedicated maternity-led unit at the hospital to both increase our available capacity and to ensure our patients continue to receive the very best service available."

"We wish Mrs Rabino and her family the very best and we are looking forward to our next 3,000 babies."
