A RUISLIP chef was almost "top of the toss" on Tuesday when he made an attempt to smash the world record for the most pancake flips.
Tom Yule, 25, tossed a pancake 406 times in two minutes - just ten short of the current record.
Tom, who is head chef at Denham Garden Village, a homes development for over-55s, said he will take up the challenge again.
He said: "I had a few practice attempts behind closed doors and I broke the record twice during those.
"I guess the pressure of the situation just got to me but I will definitely be trying it again."
Tom was trying to match the current world record held by Ralf Laue of Leipzig, Germany who made 416 tosses in two minutes on June 28, 1997 at Urfahrmarktglande in Linz, Austria - equal to three-and-a-half flips per second.
Tom said the attempt was fun despite missing the target.
"It was a great day," he said.
"We had lots of residents come down to see what was going on."
