BEWDLEY will be going pumpkin crazy on Saturday as residents of all ages get into the Halloween spirit.

The Chamber Maids, a charity group within the town's Chamber of Trade, will be holding their second annual Pumpkin Day from 10am.

Shops and businesses are invited to decorate a pumpkin, which will be displayed in windows throughout the town, and a trophy, won last year by Phipps and Pritchard, will be awarded to the best one.

Children can also take part and need to bring their vegetables or decorative lanterns to the Guild Hall in Load Street between 10am and noon to be judged. Adults can enter the largest pumpkin competition.

Town mayor, Louise Edginton, will be choosing the winners and members of the Rotary Interact group will also be serving pumpkin soup outside the Guild Hall.

Chamber Maids group treasurer, Ann Lyman, said: "We hope it will catch on and we can really make something of this event in the years to come."
