A BROADWAY rider has shown she is ready to take on the cream of the equestrian world with a superb display to complete the tricky Burghley Horse Trials 2006.

Louise Scammell, on Just a Nightmare, outjumped 31 other riders including Bettina Hoy, one of Germany's gold medal-winning world championship event team, to successfully complete in her first ever attempt at a four-star event.

Louise, who was delighted with the performance, now has her sights firmly set on Badminton next year.

Just a Nightmare was sired by well-known eventing stallion Just a Monarch and is jointly owned by Louise and her parents.

Louise's father Guy said: "We're incredibly proud of their achievement, especially after seeing the size of the cross country jumps at what was perhaps the biggest Burghley ever. At 15.2 hands, Just a Nightmare was the smallest horse in the field and, like the eventual winner, is also a mare."

Following her success, Louise and her parents paid tribute to local sponsor Phil Jenkins, of Blackminster Equine Store, for his support and financial help, as well as to her other sponsor Top Spec Equine.
