An Israeli Uzi sub-machine gun, a sawn-off shotgun and a 9mm pistol have been found by police during a raid in Bradford.

The weapons were recovered from an address in Retford Place, Little Horton, in what officers said was an intelligence-led operation.

No one has been arrested so far and police have appealed for information about the weapons.

Detective Inspector Gerry O'Shea, of Bradford North CID, said: "This is a significant seizure of some potentially very dangerous weapons.

"We are determined to make arrests in connection with this seizure and I am appealing for anyone with any information regarding these weapons to contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.

"The public should be assured West Yorkshire Police take the unlawful use of firearms very seriously and will always take robust action to remove them from the possession of criminals."

The seizure comes in the final week of the month-long regional weapons amnesty. During the amnesty people with firearms have been asked to hand them in to the police in confidence.

Anyone with information about the weapons recovered in the Bradford raid, which took place on Saturday, should contact Bradford North CID via the helpdesk on (01274) 376259 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
