YOUNG people in Sedgemoor will be able to watch new cartoons created by Avon and Somerset Police, in a hope of reducing the amount of car crime.

'Car Thief Keith' shows Keith trying to brake into a car.

However when Keith breaks the car window a variety of weapons spring from the boot and he is stopped in his tracks.

There are three different videos, one showing him meeting his end by an 'AVSOM wackomatic', one by a 'plasma cannon', and the other by a freeze gun.

After watching the films viewers are reminded that it is a cartoon, and that you cannot do these things to protect you're car, but if you keep valuables hidden and the car locked you will not have to.

On police website there will be one cartoon shown per week, available to download or save wallpaper.

The videos are also on YouTube and police are hoping the message will spread.

The cartoons are part of the Relentless on Vehicle Crime initiative.

Victims of car crime are mostly aged between 18 to 27, and Police have always found it hard to get the message across to this age group.

They are hoping this new idea will get the message across and interest their target audience.

Chief Superintendent John Long said: "This is about trying new ways of getting through to different audiences.

"The vast majority of car crime is opportunistic.

"If the sat nav or handbag isn't there, the chances are the thief will walk on by."
