HAVE the ambitious members of DIY Womp pulled off more than they can chew with their latest event at Watford Colosseum?

Booking out the second room for Womp @ The Colosseum is a bold step, but if there's anybody who can pull it off, it's the Wompers.

From the people who brought us live music by candlelight within the grounds of Cassiobury Park and who packed out Taylor's with the events they hosted there, DIY Womp's first night at The Colosseum on Saturday, April 14 will showcase bands from Watford and further afield including Langley Road, Blah Blah Blah and Legion of Filth.

Ross Collins from Langley Road says that the band can't wait to play in the same venue as The Who have appeared in.

"The nights Womp put on at Taylor's used to have a great atmosphere and I'm hoping that this will transfer to a bigger venue. I'm sure it will."

"This night is Watford for the people of Watford," says Rob Walker from DIY Womp, who achieved funding from Dorothy Thornhill's Mayor's Fund to put on the evenings.

"We want to give Watford bands the chance to play gigs at this venue, and we want London bands to return home and tell people that there's something special about Watford.

"It would be great if London bands can come away from Watford and say it was wicked."

Rob says that the people who come to Womp events are not just spectators but those who can feel part of the event.

For those coming, Womp @ The Colosseum, this Utopian ethos is bound to continue. Let's hope so.
