RESCUE services were called to help a man stuck in the River Culm in the early hours of Sunday, March 11.
A police helicopter, fire thermal imaging cameras and ambulance crews helped in the search of the river at Bridge Street in Uffculme, but the search was called off after enquiries were made.
A police spokesman said: "We received a report that there was a person in the water and another individual was attempting a rescue.
"Officers quickly spoke to a local man but because of inconsistencies of his version of events a decision was made to call off any further searches and the young man continued his journey home under his own steam."
