Chris Williams scored a brace of tries as Oxford University fought back to beat Bristol 33-25 at Iffley Road last night.

Bristol charged into a 14-0 lead thanks to tries from Ryan Edwards, and Adam Hughes, one of which was converted by Mark Cooke.

Oxford came more into the contest and hit back with a penalty try which Matt Shorthose converted.

After the break, Bristol went 19-7 up with an unconverted try from Nick Carpenter.

However, Dark Blues hit back in style.

No 8 Fraser Heathcote who barrelled his way over, Shorthose converting.

Williams grabbed the first of his two tries to put the Dark Blues ahead, before completing his double, Shorthose converting.

Hooker Nick Gardner burst through a gap to score under the posts, Shorthose adding the extras to seal the comeback.

Although Hughes scored his second try, it was too late as Dark Blues held on.
